Описание
Category Commander helps administrators organize WordPress categories, tags, and supported public custom taxonomies. It combines drag-and-drop ordering, restore history, health checks, guided category organization, CSV backups, click insights, and optional AI suggestions.
The beginner-friendly How to Use screen explains each feature and links directly to the correct page. Every plugin page starts by explaining its purpose, what will and will not change, and the three main steps. Pages are grouped into Basic tasks, Useful tools, and AI features so beginners can find the right screen without learning technical WordPress terms first. Category Organizer previews affected posts, primary categories, hierarchy, archive URLs, and permalink risks before moving all or selected posts, changing a parent, or changing a name or URL. A restore point is saved before applying. Category Organizer does not delete categories: a source category remains in place even when all of its posts are moved. Deleting unused categories is a separate action that requires selection and confirmation.

Privacy and external services
AI and Insights are disabled by default. No data is sent to OpenAI automatically. An API request occurs only after an authorized user enables AI and clicks a generation button. A post-editor request may include the current title and body, selected and existing categories and tags, and configured site summaries. Taxonomy planning may include the previewed taxonomy and optional aggregate Insights context. Visitor data, comments, orders, users, passwords, and the API key are not included in prompt content.
The API key is stored with autoload disabled, can instead be defined with CATEGORY_COMMANDER_OPENAI_API_KEY, and can be deleted from AI Settings. The API-free copy tool does not contact an AI service; data is shared only if the editor pastes the prompt into an external service.
Insights stores local daily aggregate category-link counts. It does not store IP addresses, user IDs, or individual browsing histories.

/wp-content/plugins/, or install it from the WordPress plugin screen. - Activate Category Commander.
- Go to Posts -> Category Commander -> How to Use.
- Open Settings and enable only the taxonomies you want to manage. Categories are enabled initially.
Quick start
- Open Diagnostics to review local, read-only health checks.
- Use Order when you only want to change display order.
- Use Category Organizer when category assignments, parent categories, names, or URLs will change. Use Order when only the visible order should change.
- Read the affected-post and URL preview, then confirm before applying.
- Use the post editor’s Category and tag suggestions panel for optional API suggestions or API-free browser-AI text copy.
- Select a Primary Category when a post has several categories.
- Use History or Category Organizer history when you need to restore a saved state.
All new rules start as non-blocking warnings. AI suggestions and new terms always remain proposals until an authorized person confirms them.
ЧЗВ
-
Does the plugin change anything during Diagnostics?
-
No. Diagnostics is a local, read-only report.
-
Does Category Organizer delete the original category or tag?
-
No. It replaces or adds assignments as reviewed, saves a restore point, and leaves the source term in place for manual review.
-
Does a URL impact preview use AI?
-
No. It is calculated deterministically from current WordPress terms, permalinks, assignments, and primary categories.
-
Does the AI feature apply changes automatically?
-
No. Suggestions must be reviewed and confirmed. New categories and tags also require confirmation unless an administrator deliberately changes the policy.
-
Can I use browser ChatGPT without an API key?
-
Yes. Copy the complete prompt from the post editor or AI Suggestions screen, paste it into a browser AI, and review the result manually. The plugin does not send copied prompts anywhere.
-
The default AI limit and governance warning are five. Existing reusable tags are preferred, and the AI may return fewer when fewer are useful. Administrators can change the limit.
-
Does Primary Category conflict with an SEO plugin?
-
No. When Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active, Category Commander uses that plugin’s primary-category value. Otherwise it stores its own value.
-
Does the plugin modify WordPress core tables?
-
No. It uses WordPress options, term meta, post meta, and its own aggregate Insights table.
-
Yes. Enable supported public taxonomies in Category Commander -> Settings.
-
How do I display ordered terms?
-
Use
[category_commander_list],category_commander_get_terms(), orcategory_commander_terms_list(). The Default preset can also order normal category widgets and blocks when front-end autosort is enabled.
